The name 'Maltodextrin' refers to Dextrose polymers of varying lengths. However, unlike Dextrose, Maltodextrin is not very sweet.
Usually the prime ingredient found in most off-the-shelf "weight gainers", Maltodextrin should be used by anyone wishing to increase their mass.

Maltodextrin is a fine white powder with a bland taste, which mixes extremely well. It also increases the mixabilty of protein powders when added to them. Maltodextrin contains virtually no fat or protein and is a great cheap source of energy.
Although technically a complex carbohydrate, Maltodextrin results in a glycemic response similar to that of Dextrose.
