Overview

Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) are Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine. They are considered to be essential amino acids because humans could not survive unless they were present in their diet.

BCAAs are required to maintain lean tissue and studies have shown that they help to preserve your stores of glycogen. BCAAs also prevent tissue breakdown during training.

Unlike other amino acids BCAAs are not metabolised in the stomach and are instead metabolised directly in the muscle. This unique quality means that they build lean tissue and stop catabolism. These unique amino acids (Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine) cannot be synthesised by your body so they are essential to your growth.

Don't like the taste of BCAA powder? Why not try our BCAA+ Tablets.

You can increase the effectiveness of BCAAs by consuming 10mg of Vitamin B6 with every 10g of BCAA.

Ingredients

The ratio of our BCAA is 2:1:1 (Leucine:Isoleucine:Valine).

Suggested Use

As a dietary supplement we recommend consuming 5 grams 2 - 4 times daily for optimal results. Best consumed with your preferred amount of water or fruit juice.

Add 2 heaped MP small scoops (5g) to your preferred amount of water or fruit juice and consume immediately.

1 x level MP Plastic Scoop (small) weighs 2.2g. (not included)

Well I dont know what you are all complaining about. I can put it on my tongue and wash it down with water and it doesn't taste bad. It also mixes VERY well with the brown rice protein and doesn't float on the top or anything. I've been taking this for a few weeks now and have noticed my recovery time practically cut in half! I'm very impressed XD

Get some water ready, take a tablespoon full of bcaa, shove it down your throat and wash down with water. Took me a while to get used to this method, but now I have no problem with taking it. It is highly hydrophobic, resulting from the long carbon chains, thus it practically does not mix with water at room temp. Taste: quite bitter and tangy. DO NOT breathe through your nose when ingesting something that does not taste good. Take a deep breath, swallow, make sure to wash down residue with water and only then start breathing through your nose. Impact Whey Protein
  • Comment:
This is a fantastic product to be purchasing. I give this product 4/5 overall simply because of the taste which is bearable when mixed with myproteins Impact Whey Protein but on its own is barely tolerable. I have made significant gains strength wise/energy levels but NOT WEIGHT. I add 5 grams (two tspoon) twice daily to my protein shake pre and post work (30gwhey, 5g glut, 2g leu). I have seen an increase in recovery time particular less DOMS in my forearms (prone to injury). Biceps and Chest most gains. This has enabled me to take training to the next level. GIVE THEM A TRY!!!

I've held back on the fifth star, because I have little to compare it to, and I'm not sure how effective the supplement is - I started taking several products together, and it seems to work.\r\n\r\nThe taste is given as 1/5, but I personally don't find the taste to be powerfully unpleasant. It's ok mixed in with the many other things (other AA's, proteins, dextrose, fructose) in my post workout drink, at about 5 grams.

This should be in every bodybuilders staple, right after whatever proteins you need, creatine and glutamine.\r\n\r\nTry 5.6 gms pre-workout, 5.6 gms during workout, and 5.6 gms with PWO shake. (5.6 gms is 2 1/2 level scoops).\r\n\r\nFor periods of increased intensity (or just when you have more cash), add to this ...\r\n\r\nTRAINING DAYS - add to the above dosing, 5.6 gms upon waking and another 5.6 gms before bed.\r\n\r\nNON-TRAINING days - take 3-4 doses of 5.6 gms spread evenly throughout the day.\r\n\r\nI'd urge anyone using BCAA's to at least try the pre/post workout dosing above....just give it a month and judge for yourself.\r\n\r\nIn addition, buy yourself some cheap vitamin b6 (from asda) as recommended by MP.\r\n\r\n

Everyone has their own ideas about supplements but it seems pretty much agreed that the three you REALLY need are creatine, glutamine, and BCAA. I'm not so sure about the creatine but then again I'm a vegetarian so maybe it's just bringing me up to what I'm supposed to get from meat anyway. Glutamine works, despite those who say it's destroyed in the gut, and in my case means no or very minimal DOMS plus the ability to train flat-out every day so long as I also stay off the beer. Without glutamine it's every other day. At present I'm minimising calories to lose fat and this usually trades off to mean less energy and more tiredness during workouts. BCAA fixes this little problem however by doing its anti-catabolic thing and forcing the body to burn that fat for energy instead of lazily just grabbing glycogen. I have a few grams morning and evening but during workouts I just drink as much as I want of about 15 grams of BCAA dissolved in a litre of water. It's extremely fast-acting and you can literally tell the difference in lack of tiredness and increased motivation to get on with it. Incidentally the powder is better value than tablets so don't be put off by stories of the terrible taste. It's not wonderful (slightly bitter) but tolerably OK, and in fact I find it's perfectly complemented by adding Robinsons Pink Grapefruit Fruit and Barley squash if you don't mind the tiny few extra calories. BCAA does not like to mix easily and granules sort of cling to the surface of the water but adding the Robinsons seems to correct that as well!

I've found this product fantastic when i do heavy squats. It gives me a little extra strength and energy at the time, but when i take it after for recovery i really feel all my legs soaking up the stuff. Next day my legs dont feel like they've worked out so much at all. I've tried other more expensive brands and this one in my opinion is very much a cut above the others on quality alone, but when you consider the price it really is top noch.

BCAA's are an excellent supplement when used before and post workout for reducing soreness and promoting good recovery. The taste isn't exactly wonderous but you do get used it.\n\nAlso, BCAA's are improved with the addition of extra Leucine (the most potent BCAA) when mixed at a 2.1 BCAA/Leucine ratio, although the Leucine makes the blend less easy to mix.

Been taking this stuff for a few days and have to say I think it has worked even in that short space of time, problem is it tastes absolutely horendous, and considering 5g is about a teaspoon full I can't see anyway of taking it. It ruins the flavour of protein shakes by adding a very bitter taste to them, and doesn't mix well with anything. I would have thought you would need to have an awful lot of capsules to get through 5g 3 or 4 times a day. The only solution I have tried that seems to work reasonably well is adding the powder to a small amount of pro-biotic yoghurt, and just spoon it down without trying to savour the taste.

I have been using MP BCAA for a few weeks now and along with CEE, whey and HMB, I am making damn good progress! I don’t understand why so many people are moaning like little girls about the taste? Just spoon a bit in your mouth and wash it back with some quality H2O. Simple! It really annoys me when people moan about the taste when MP products are so reasonably price and are of extremely good quality! They are supplements designed to enhance your performance...not appease your taste buds! I will rant no more! Top stuff!!Thanks MP

I've been using BCAA for over six months now but will not be ordering any more. I tried a 40g per day megadosing routine (added to pre/post shake) for the first three months. with no noticeable increase in the rate of strength or lean tissue gain. Had the same poor results when I tried taking 5g servings at equally spaced intervals. I just can't get BCAA to work for me. This, added to the very high cost, inability to mix properly and powdery taste means that I can't honestly recommend it and won't be ordering any more.

I won't go into details of how good this product is, there are enought of those, but its immiscibility and taste have been found to be quite an issue with some users. Try mixing it (and your L-glutamine, Creatine etc.) with some nesquick and a glass of milk. This sorts out the taste issue and mixes much better meaning you don't get that scum of powder left on top. Problem solved. Good product.

Hi just like most guys on here, i agree that the taste is rank, and it is a worse mistake if you smell in the bag, so i shoved it to the side, but yesterday i decided to give it another try, cause the results sound good, and done what one guy mentioned in a previous review, mixed it with robinsons orange and diluted with hot water and it pretty much dissolved and wasn't floating at the top and was much easier to drink, but i have a question for science and physics buffs out there, by dissolving it with the hot water, does it make it any less effective, i would appreciate a sensible answer cheers.

Firstly I'd like to mention I ordered my BCAA's late tuesday night and it arrived at half 9 on thursday morning. If only all internet sites were that fast! \nSecondly, the taste, it's FINE. I added 10grams to my PWO shake (50g unflavoured whey, 40g oats, 7g l-glut and 5g creapure) and the taste was barely different, not even close to being as bad or gag inducing as some reviews have made out. \nIt doesn't dissolve completely but it doesn't float at the top either so no complaints. Can't comment of effectiveness yet but so far full marks MP!

Yep it tastes rank - I'm pretty tough when it comes to necking suppliments but the only way i can take this is put a small amount of whey protein, 5g bcaa, glutamine & whatever else you want in shaker mix & drink - i find by adding a tiny amount of xathan gum it thickens it slightly & the bcaa taste doesn't seem to disolve into the mix - easy & you honestly can't taste it anymore. that said brilliant stuff -)

I was thinking of purchasing 500g of BCAA's powder and then adding the entire pack to a tub of hurricane (2500g), and shaking it all up a bit. Has anybody else tried this and found it to be an effective way of permanently giving your usual tub of shake a boost?

It really does taste bad, I mean really bad, I mean Pre-Digested Hydrolysed Whey Protein is a walk in the park compared to this. I had read that it tasted bad but thought what the hell, I can stomach anything. I mixed up a weeks worth of choc protein, L glut, and BCAA and all I have done is wasted the lot, I find it impossible to drink, so far I have managed 3 (small) servings but after nearly throwing up the last lot I give in. Just tried 5 grams of BCAA with 200ml water and a fairly strong serving of Robinsons Orange and it didn't actually taste that bad. I think I'll carry on with the robinsons until my next order when I'll buy the Capping Kit and take it in capsule form instead.

Some stuck at the bottom so I used a spoon to get that up. It also had a little scum on the top. Not a problem.\n\nSo I chug it down bosh, bosh, bosh. NEE BOTHA. I don't know what all the fuss is about. I couldn't even taste it.\n\nUse the mixer from here, the berry blast flavouring, 300ml of cool spring water and BAM.\n\nI'll put the next lot in my fluffy pink shake. OH AYE.

i struggle to take this on a regular basis as its the worst tasting supplement i've tried to date. it wouldnt be half as bad if it mixed but it simply dosnt at all. i try to mix it with a fruit juice of some sort then build myself up to neck it then once downing it in one and heaving over the sink to look in the glass to see most of it still in the bottom. this is a devistating site as i know i have to do it again. but you cant argue that bcaa is an essential supplement so if your determined to get results just neck it as quick as you can and brace yourself for the taste, you'll never forget it.

I add 3g of this to my pre & post workout drinks and just before bed, its excellent stuff! Mixes fine and tastes ok, gives the drink a very slight acidic taste but with the protein and oats you can only just make it out! Will always use this from now on.

Just recieved this product and decided to test it pre and post when playing a football match. Result? i felt better endurance, even sprinting at full speed late in the game (rare for me) and after the post dosage i felt considerably less tired.\nNext to test it where it really matters, the gym!
