Overview

Soy Protein Isolate boasts the highest protein content of any soy protein powder. Our Soy Protein Isolate is made from 100% NON-GMO defatted soy beans suing a stringeant process which removes a vast majority of the fat and carbohydrate content. The resulting product yields over 90% protein content with minimal fat and carbohydrate, whilst being completely free of lactose.

Soy Protein Isolate is the ideal choice for vegetarians, vegans and those with special dietary requirements such as lactose intolerance. Soy Protein Isolate unfairly gets labelled as inferior to other high-end proteins such as Whey Protein, but is in fact a complete protein source so it sits equally alongside other protein sources such as Whey and Milk. It's moderate rate of digestion makes it a great accompaniment to Whey Protein

Soy Protein Isolate does NOT affect estrogen production as suggested by a number of unfounded myths. In a number of studies looking at such issues, there was no reported difference between those that use Soy Protein and those that don't.

Soy Protein Isolate is the closest vegetable protein that resembles meat proteins and boasts an excellent amino acid profile.

Soy Protein Isolate has a neutral flavour compared to other soy products and is FREE of Lactose and Gluten and is also GM free.

The amino acid profile can be found at the bottom of the page under 'Certificates'.

Ingredients

Soy Protein Isolate, Soy Lecithin (emulsifier). Flavoured Options Also Include: Cocoa Powder (chocolate flavours), Flavouring, Sucralose®, Colouring (Beetroot Red [strawberry cream flavour]).

Suggested Use

Add 150-250ml of water or milk into our shaker (the less liquid the thicker the shake will be). Then add 1 heaped MP large scoop (30g), shake and consume. Use 2-3 times daily or as required.

1 x level MP Plastic Scoop (large) weighs 28g. (not included)

Nutritional Information

Per 30g:
Energy: 113.7Kcal
Protein (dry basis): 27.8g
Protein (as-is): 26.4g
Fat: 0.9g
Carbohydrates: 0.3g
of which sugars: Trace

Please note this nutritional information is taken from the unflavoured version. When choosing a flavoured version it will reduce the protein content by approximately 3% for most flavours, however chocolate, due to the added cocoa, will reduce it by approximately 8%.

Found this product hard to mix with water, tastes yuck as well, have tried different amounts with filtered, bottled and tap water and can't seem to get the consistancy right, either the product gets lumpy or goes so frothy it's getting the top off a cappachino, just does'nt work for me.

I love the taste of this even without anything added. But, add some fruit and ice and hey presto, it is like a dessert.

The price of this product is excellent, the taste however is wrong. I've found that instead of having it with water or milk and using a shaker, I blend fruits/ice-cream or sorbet with it and it tastes good and I get some my five a day :) The reason I bought this product was because I'm lactose intolerant. Overall good product for the price, cheers myprotein.

It's perfect if you want to avoid dairy, pretty much tasteless. When mixed with soya milk, organic cocoa powder and some squeezy honey it makes a perfect shake. Add some psyllium husks and ground flaxseed or scottish oats and shake well for a healthy drink.

  • Comment:
This stuff tastes seriously awful if you purchase it unflavoured, so my first recommendation is that you buy it flavoured. I've tried mixing it with several different things, juices, cereals, soya milk and honey, and various other things and it has been difficult to mask. However, the most successful attempt has been to mix it with 4 teaspoons of strawberry nesquik mix, it's no treat but it goes down a lot easier that way. The powder is very "grainy" when mixed, it doesn't come out smooth like some of the other products but I have to give this product its due as it does what it says, it has definitely helped me with my recovery and I am not currently using any other products in conjunction with it. I hope this review is helpful to anybody considering this product. Taste isn't everything, just bare that in mind.

Just got this..DO NOT MIX WITH SOYA MILK! Turns into a McD like thick milkshake/double cream which u CAN NOT use on cereal, you are literally eating the Weetabix dry! NEIGH! TOO thick compared to Whey..Disappointed but will try with water thou not holding out much hope..glad I only ordered 2.5kg! Will have to order some Whey and try to mix the two as 1/3 part. Shame as I am lactose intolerance and was hoping this to be a replacement for Whey. On the plus side, I found it palatable and I guess it's perfect for smoothies.

I just tried this for the first time with some Palatinose, and I have to say I was surprised at how nice it was. Really reminded me of Swedish Glace (dairy-free ice cream). I am lactose intolerant, so this is ideal. Was slightly thick and gloopy, but no biggy!

taste and texture, on my palate, whey wins me over hands down. It seems to go thick and gloopy if you add a little too much soy, not as smooth a texture as whey but still a half decent drink no less.

This product doesn't mix nearly as well or taste nearly as nice as the cheaper whey protein concentrate. I usually take it with whey (plus other things) in my PWO shake, and it seems to make it a little gritty and lumpy, but it's palatable. Has a different AA profile to whey, hence taking more than one type after workouts.

Unlike you bodybuilders I want my Soy Protein to use in my daily breakfast Frozen Fruit Smoothie. Being lactose intolerant, I use Soy as an alternative. \r\nI usually use TwinLab Vegefuel however I was unable to get my usual supply. I then found myprotein.co.uk who offered me a quality product at a very good price. I found the service excellent and liked to find that I could track the delivery of the product.\r\nI made my first smoothie today and found that with a heavyduty blender (Kitchenaid)the powder blended well. Yes I could taste the Soy Protein, however I was a little heavy handed with my scoop. I give you people 4.5 out of 5 for this product, and I know when I get used to what ratio of powder I should be using my breakie should taste just fine and dandy.

I bought 4kg in the normal cyclic sale at H&B of their Supro soya protein. It works out to £8.25 per kilo, so quite a lot less than MyProtein, even for the 2.5kg bag. I had some and the taste was unpleasant whereas the MyProtein one, to me, is very pleasant indeed, in fact I look forward to having some each day and really enjoy it, especially scooping off the lumps from the top of the mostly mix and chewing them.\n\nSo how could this be? I then noticed on the H&B container that it also contains Silicon Dioxide anti caking agent. Yuk! I guess that's the reason for the difference anyway. As I've only had the one 2.5kg so far and haven't the H%B one for a few years so it could just be normal variation.\n\nPart of the reason for me buying my stuff from MyProtein is so I can eliminate all those added ingredients.\n\nAs far as mixing, it's pretty easy, just add to a 500ml beaker one scoop of soya and 300ml of warm water stir briskly with a spoon.

I have a new 2.5kg bag from MP. Hmm. What's going on here... Not so nice a taste and different mixing ability. In fact it's quite similar tasting to the H&B stuff, but not exactly the same. I went over and got some H&B from a pal and compared them. As I remembers it, the previous bag (4 months ago) from MP mixed better really, leaving a few soft lumps that floated. This new bag makes less but hard, tough lumps that tend to not float. In fact some of them are too hard and tough to break up even by chewing!! Maybe my taste has changed over the last few weeks or this is a sizeable product variation or a different product? Maybe this is the same as the H&B with the anti-caking agent?

Stick it in a blender with a banana, cocoa powder, honey (or frozen berries) to sweeten and water.\r\nMuch easier to drink.\r\nIf it's too gloopy, just keep adding water until it's the way you want it.

Switched from the impact whey to this for a couple of weeks to cut out dairy for a while.\n\nMore difficult to mix than regular whey and tastes pretty bad without mixing with something else. Really could do with a flavoured version! \n\nHowever, no bloating etc, so it's doing a good job there.

Mixes very well if you use a protein shaker. As to the taste, it's somewhat plain but I cannot for the life of me understand why any of you are mixing it with water. Use soya milk for goodness sake! If you want more flavour simply add chocolate flavoured soya milk to the standard soya milk. Tastes as good as any commercially produced shakes. Excellent product overall.

After my first gulp, it made me cringe and shudder, wondering just what have I bought and what am I to do with the rest of the stuff. The chalky texture was a bit grim too.\n\n2 sweeteners and a heaped teaspoonful of sugar later, together with some ice, it's not so bad anymore. I need some serious flavouring to make this work though. Shouldn't have been so cocky and thought I could get away without flavourings!!

I mix this with soy milk and water and either a pinch of the vanilla flavouring or a small banana. I mix in a blender as I can't get it smooth just shaking it. Never tried any other PP but this is good. Doesn't taste nice mixed with just water though.

I love the stuff! I tried many ways of mixing it but by far the best, easiest and nicest is half to two thirds of a pint of water blended (not stirred) with squeezy golden syrup to taste (depending on how sweet you like it). A few extra calories but well worth it. Delicious!

No flavouring needed.\nI would highly recommend it to anyone with 'Lactose Intolerance', as it has been so hard to find a decent alternative until now! \nOrdering & shipping couldn't have been easier and faster! Thanks!!

At last, I have found a protein supplement that isnt made from whey protein!!! I have a dairy intollerence so whey protein is a big no no for me. I mix mine with some Tesco own milkshake powder...which also contains no dairy :-) makes it taste a bit sweeter, on its own a bit bland but still no worse than normal protein powder. A big thankyou to the myprotein.co.uk team for a speedy transaction, keep up the good work.x

I put 20g in a blender with 250ml unsweetened soymilk and a heaped tablespoon of xylitol... the perfect consistency and lovely taste. I also sometimes like to add a teaspoon of cacao powder for a chocolate milkshake. \n\nI'm not sure if you can get non-defatted soybeans which I would prefer... that's the only thing I'd change but I guess most people prefer them to be defatted?\n\nVery impressed with this product and will be buying again :)

Okay, as per the title, the effectiveness of this product will depend on who you are.\n\nIf you are the average joe, who can't digest lactose, but needs to increase the amount of protein in your diet, this is fine. Simply mix it in a blender with some fruit (or honey) and soy milk and it tastes fine and mixes well. \n\nHowever, if you're a lactose intolerant bodybuilder then this doesn't cut the mustard for a number of reasons, as listed below:\n\n1) Mixability in a shaker with water is poor (I take 50g at a time in one shaker so you should take this into account). If you have your shakes on the go, be it in the office or after the gym, likelihood is that you mix with water and down it. You can't do that with this powder as it mixes poorly in water (using a shaker). You're left with lumps and froth (see point 2).\n\n2) Far too frothy in a shaker. This is more of an annoyance than a serious problem. I have to wait about 2 minutes for the froth to die down before I can actually drink it.\n\n3) It is not palatable without adding flavouring. Believe me I can generally tolerate the most disgusting of tastes but this was revolting. I had to purchase the strawberry flavour drops which I must admit do make it taste pleasant. However, this means you have to carry these around with you and adds 7 or 8 pounds to the price, making it not as cost-effective as I had previously thought.\n\nAdding to this the annoying resealable zip which is not travel-friendly whatsoever, I find it hard to give this product a good rating. I will be switching back to Holland&Barrett Chocolate soy isolate. Although it's more expensive, it is far more convenient.\n\nPlease, MP, sort us out with a decent flavoured version. There are enough people out there who need it and there are few good substitutes so it will surely be a hit product!
